In this video we focus on maintaining back control when the opponent begins to escape toward the overhook side of the seatbelt. Starting with seatbelt and both hooks established, the opponent turns and partially clears the bottom hook, bringing their back to the mat on the overhook side. Rather than abandoning the position, we maintain the seatbelt connection, build up to our knees, and slide the free leg high toward the elbow. From here, we use a chair-sit motion to roll to the opposite side, allowing us to recover the lost hook and reestablish full back control with seatbelt and both hooks.

This is an effective drill for developing sensitivity and continuity when following the back during common escape attempts from the bottom leg on the overhook side.
