Описание к видео X-Plane 11 Tutorial - How to Fly an RNAV Approach Using the Default GPS (2019) | Quick & Easy

Follow along in this video to learn the basics of how hand fly an RNAV approach in X-Plane 11. This video does not cover approach plate basics in depth, but if you would like a video on that, drop this video a like and let me know in the comments.

RNAV Approach Quick Guide:

1. Open GPS, put in destination airport, press "PROC" button and hit "Select Approach", scroll to desired approach and hit the "ENT" (enter button) and select which IAF you want to use and hit "ENT" again.
2. Proceed direct to the IAF you chose and once you are close to the IAF, hit "PROC" again and select "Activate Approach".
3. Passing the IAF, make sure your desired track "DTK" and your actual track "TRK" match up and confirm with the approach plate if you are using one.
4. Once inbound on the FAC, check the plate for when to descend and what your descent rate should be.
5. Make sure you are on "GPS" mode and set the final approach course into your OBS.
6. Follow the CDI needles to stay aligned with runway and proper descent profile.
7. Look outside for the runway environment at the MDA (or DH in the case of a precision approach) and level off until you reach the MAP.
8. If the runway environment is in sight, you can proceed down below minimums and land, if you cant see the runway environment, follow the missed approach instructions on the plate.

Thanks for watching and I hope this helped.

Also a little caveat, I am not an IRL instrument rated pilot yet, but am in training for it. This is solely for practice purposes for me, but I thought I would record it for fun.
