Warmth in the Desert Night: HOWA's Impact at Rubber Tramp Rendezvous

In Quartzsite, AZ the night can get into freezing temperatures and the wind regularly howls. Many come to the desert southwest in the winter unprepared. Many do not have the funds to get enough blankets, or a hat, or jacket.

That's where Homes On Wheels Alliance (HOWA) comes in at the annual January gathering called the "Rubber Tramp Rendezvous" where those in the mobile community gather to make friends and learn about life on the road. It's also here that many realize they are unprepared for the cold.

Through the generousity of Columbia Sportswear we were able to distribute 50 warm jackets. And another anonymous donor provided enough funds for more jackets, hats, gloves, socks, and blankets. Over 600 people got at least one item to fend off the cold.
