Star Wars Battlefront II Mods (PC) HD: The Battles of the Clone Wars (ALPHA) - Tantive IV

WATCH IN HD! So I've been given permission by i2Bros to act as an exceptional tester, and provide some gameplay here on this channel, for his latest anticipated project: The Battles of the Clone Wars mod. First of all I want to make it clear that this is a private alpha test and the mod is far from ready for a public release. It still has the occasional crash to desktop and requires plenty of polish and therefore it's understandable i2Bros wants to keep everyone in anticipation for the final release.
This mod is one of many current total conversion projects to bring the art style, characters and weapons of the 2008-2015 Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV show to Star Wars: Battlefront 2. In does this by borrowing a large number of models from the now abandoned Clone Wars Adventures MMO as well as some community-made models for Jedi Academy. i2Bros and his team have also created a large selection of skins to round off the Clone Legions and include some fan-favourite Clone Troopers such as Boost and Boil.
The mod isn't only restricted to stock maps however, it also comes with support for several custom maps including Coruscant: Modern Warfare, Attack on Venator and Umbara: Shadow Forest.
To round things off, it's not just the weapons and units that have been revamped with TCW-style models, there are plenty of new hero models with TCW Anakin Skywalker, TCW Obi-Wan Kenobi, TCW Plo Koon and Ahsoka Tano all playable in this mod. Here on Tantive IV, Ahsoka is the hero for the Republic. She is wearing her Seasons 3-6 attire and comes complete with her green lightsaber which is held in reverse grip just like in the show. Seeing as this version of Ahsoka is based on her appearance in the later seasons, it'd be awesome to see her have her shoto too in further releases.
Here on Tantive IV, the playable legion is the 501st Legion and there are also a lot of fan favourite Clones such as Kix, Tup, Hardcase, ARC Trooper Fives and Captain Rex which is awesome!
Furthermore, the mod adds a selection of new musical cues from the show which is another highly appreciated detail, it would also be cool to see some new VO for the heroes and infantry in further releases.
All in all, it's been an honour to test out the alpha for this mod as well as great fun to play through each of the maps with a TCW spin on things. The mod rides fantastically off the sense of nostalgia and fondness that us fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars have for the show and playing this mod just reminds me that there was still so much that it had to offer. The Battles of the Clone Wars is shaping up to be a fantastic conversion mod and I can't wait to see what else i2Bros and his expanding team have up their sleeves for us all, go ahead and check out the mod's page on ModDB to keep up to date with their progress!
