What are AI-Resilient Activities? These are assignments that fundamentally require students to think, create, and participate meaningfully, engaging cognitive processes, even with the availability of AI tools.

I believe the most impactful change instructors can make is limiting distractions to foster deep learning. In this video, my students share their candid opinions on the value of handwritten notes. While it might sound low-tech, I argue it's a vital technique for learning best.

My Method: Requiring students to take notes by hand isn't complicated. The important steps come before and after: I give students a friendly, direct 5-minute primer on effective note-taking early in the semester, and then I show them how to digitize their notes for review later. This strategy is less about fighting AI and more about: maximizing engagement in discussion, improving focus and information synthesis, and making class feel like a sanctuary from the constant distraction of the online world.
