They Perished in a DEADLY Avalanche on Everest

In 1989, six Polish climbers were on their way down from the summit of Everest when they were struck by a massive avalanche. Four died within hours; a fifth did not survive the night. One injured climber was left stranded on the mountain. He was saved couple of days later in a heroic rescue bid. This was the greatest catastrophe in the history of Polish Himalayan mountaineering. The tragedy took place at Lho La, a high pass separating Khumbu and Rongbuk glaciers.
