Joan Jett, the famed frontwoman of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, has lived by one motto her entire life: She could be anything she wanted to be.

Inspired by these words at just 5 years old, Jett spent the 1980s redefining gender boundaries in rock. We can only imagine how she felt sitting with two female hard rock radio jocks — hopefully proud. Jett, who hadn’t been to a game since last year and was now to set to be a key player in it, expressed she was actually feeling more butterflies before pitching for Baltimore than for the Blackhearts.
