In this video Colin Kaepernick explains why he won't stand during the national anthem, highlighting the motivation behind his protest. Additionally, President Barack Obama and President Donald Trump speak on the subject, offering their own unique perspectives. Ultimately, the effect of the three combined audio tracks create a cacophony of sound where Colin's original message seems to get lost.

The intention here is to create an audio and visual commentary, reflecting this historical time in the United States, in wake of the murder of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis. Adding the symbolic visual backdrop of fireworks is used to represent the freedom and liberties all Americans should be able to celebrate, not only on the Fourth of July, but every day. I was inspired to create this piece after watching President Trump's speech at the 2020 Fourth of July celebration at Mt. Rushmore, where the first fireworks display took place there in more than a decade.

This video is best experienced with headphones and is designed to live somewhere in the relationship of art and politics. I congratulate you if you can make it through the entire video (four minutes).
