Day three's video from last week's joint Lochaber / Inverness Sub Aqua Clubs' (LSAC/ISAC) dive week in Lochaber.

Some of us have dived Alisary Slip once before, but not for a couple of years, so it was good to get back and see if we could find the 'hole' again.

This is a site, which has to be found using a compass bearing from the slip, as the hole/reef is a considerable distance from the shore. However, as it was a very calm day and the sea was like a mill pond, Alastair and I decided to surface fin on a hybrid visual/compass bearing.

Sadly, we had slightly underestimated the flood tide current. We dropped down after a long surface swim and found we were only 5m from the edge of the reef. Unfortunately, it was at a part of the reef, which didn't step down as deeply as the usual spot. It was still an interesting dive, but we had to keep finning to stop ourselves from being swept along in the wrong direction by the current.

Our second attempt saw us fin out and drop down past the edge of the hole, so we stopped descending at around 16m and finned back till we hit it.

On our way back, among the rocks in the shallows, we came across the biggest lobster I've ever seen. It was like a walking reef, complete with a small colony of sea squirts growing on it!
