Garmin Montana 700 700i 750i -How to Use, Calibrate And Customize Compass Page

In this video we will go over the steps to customize the compass page on your Garman montana 700 710i and 750i models.

By Tapping on the MENU while in the COMPASS PAGE, you can access many functions very quickly.

First off is the Sight N Go feature, this is where you want to lock in a bearing and travel in that direction. With the electronic compass, you can point the Montana in the direction of travel and either set a course in that direction or project a waypoint then go a normal navigation to a waypoint. If you are using SET COURSE option, you will navigate using the CDI compass face. This allows you to see how far off course you are based on the scale, here defaulted at 250m

Another feature is to CALIBRATE COMPASS. This is an option that you can use to calibrate the electronic compass. Truthfully this is something that I really don’t use a lot on recent devices, but in the scenario where you do notice the compass being way off, this function will show you how the rotate the device along the 3 axis.

Next feature is DASHBOARDS AND CUSTOMIZING DATA FIELDS, here you can unlock the data fields and tap to change each one. Dashboards are different layouts based on your activity, you may prefer a large data field, small data fields, satellite, geocache, etc…

Last menu option is HEADIN SETUP, this fine tunes the compass face, bearing pointer and values displayed based on your preferences.
