One of the major differences between NLP vs. Neuro-Semantics is the shift from more linear thinking toward thinking more systemically.

For example, NLP mostly focused on getting someone from point A to point B (Linear).

It focused on the strategy model, "When does it start?", "What happens first?", "And then what happens?" (Linear). The TOTE model followed step by step sequences of eye movements (linear).

NLP did have some systemic thinking in it, for example the concept of ecology, but Neuro-Semantics built upon this and really took it to the next level.

The introduction of the Meta-states model of Neuro-Semantics opened NLP to a whole different way of thinking systemically.

Whereas NLP focused on the linear step by step strategies the meta-states model allows the Neuro-Semanticist to think again and again about a specific reference experience.

In this self-reflexive spiraling we are able to see the systemic interaction of higher level thoughts on lower level thoughts and add an entire new dimension to NLP.

Upon understanding the Meta-States model I have had multiple clients say "Wow, now NLP is 3-Dimensional!"

This type of self-reflexive thinking is a natural way that we think as human beings, and the Meta-States Model allows us to more accurately model that type of thinking so we can replicate experiences of excellence more accurately, as well as transform unresourceful experiences that are governed by higher level thoughts.

Rather than just changing/transforming whatever comes up, this way of thinking allows the practitioner to take more time to analyze their circumstances systemically and to find leverage points to get the most transformation with the least amount of effort.
