Last week, the US dollar index was suffering from downward pressure, but the situation changed on Friday. At the opening of the New York trades, the index started to recover its losses.
The US dollar index breached 90.00 levels, rising by about 1 percent. Throughout Friday, market participants were waiting for significant macroeconomic data.
Traders paid special attention to the nonfarm payrolls report revealed in the US. The US Labor Department reported that in February the country’s economy generated 313 thousand vacancies, recording the biggest increase in more than 1.5 years. Economists had projected 200 thousand new jobs.
Meanwhile, the US unemployment remained at the same level of 4.1 percent. Experts had anticipated a slight decline. Nevertheless, it did not prevent traders from buying the greenback actively at the opening of the New York session.
Monday lacks high-impact data releases, so the market sentiment will hardly change much. Experts suppose that the US dollar will be supported by the Friday statistics.
