We swam with manatees last week as part of a guided tour run out of the dive shop at Plantation on Crystal River, Florida. This was in the summer months, so the number of manatees in this area is much less than in the winter (40 or so vs. 600+). We saw manatees swimming, eating and occasionally surfacing at the top. We wore wetsuits in part due to the temperature of the water, but also to keep us buoyant. We enjoyed our time viewing the manatees in their habitat!
