Stranger Things is an American TV series created by the Duffer Brothers for Netflix. Produced by Monkey Massacre Productions and 21 Laps Entertainment, it first premiered on July 15, 2016. The show released its second and third seasons in October 2017 and July 2019, respectively. The fourth season aired in two parts in May and July 2022, and the fifth and final season came out in three parts in November and December 2025. Blending horror, science fiction, mystery, and coming-of-age stories, the series is set in the 1980s and explores life in Hawkins, Indiana. The plot centers on Eleven, a girl with psychokinetic powers, who accidentally opens a portal to the hostile Upside Down, an alternate dimension created through experiments at a nearby facility. The cast features Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, and many others. In the fifth season, set in fall 1987, the group hunts Vecna, a villain aiming to merge the worlds through the Upside Down using children as vessels. Their efforts become more urgent when the military targets Eleven and Holly, Nancy and Mike's younger sister, is kidnapped by Vecna. The Upside Down is revealed to be a wormhole connecting Hawkins to the Abyss, created by Eleven in 1983. Vecna seeks to combine the dimensions by harnessing the power of children, and as Will's disappearance anniversary nears, the group prepares for a decisive battle.
