North Landers Complex, WY BLM Wild Horse Round-Up 7/1/24 Video 15

Day 1 of the 2025 BLM North Landers Wild Horse Gather:

383 healthy wild horses pulled off of the vast Wyoming landscape on this day. The Bureau of Land Management used Federal Tax Dollars to hire Private Contractors, Cattoor Livestock and Helicopter Roundup, to chase down 76 foals, 162 mares (many pregnant), and 145 stallions into a trap. The horses were pushed and harassed until they finally entered the hidden jute chute into the trap. From there they were loaded onto trucks to a short term holding pen on a private ranch, in order to make room for subsequent groups chased into the trap. The BLM set a goal of 2,215 capturing horses from this area. Reasons given include supposed rangeland health, though there was no rangeland specialist on hand to answer questions about the range or how a distinction is made between the affect of wild horses vs private livestock grazing on the health of public rangeland land. Public observers were told that once the horses were removed, more private livestock may be put out on the graze. Eventually the no-longer free roaming wild horses were transported to the privately owned, BLM contracted, Wheatland Off Range Coral, a 200 acre facility that can hold up to 3,500 wild horses and burros . . . no cows.

The greatest thing you can do is contact your congressman and demand change. Public land should not be sacrificed for private industry. Let the wild be.
