Attack on Kaaba – The Story of Divine Intervention and the Ababeel Birds








The Attack on Kaaba is one of the most powerful and miraculous events in Islamic history, known as the Incident of the Elephants (Aam al-Feel). This event took place in the year when Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was born. A mighty king named Abaraha, full of pride and arrogance, marched towards Makkah with a massive army and giant war elephants. His goal was to destroy the holy Kaaba and divert the people’s attention towards his own cathedral in Yemen.

As his army advanced, the people of Makkah were terrified. They fled to the mountains, while their leader Abdul Muttalib showed complete faith in Allah, saying: “The Kaaba has its own Lord, and He will protect it.” When the army reached near the Kaaba, the lead elephant refused to move forward, showing a sign of divine power. Suddenly, thousands of birds called Ababeel appeared in the sky, each carrying small stones in their beaks and claws. By the command of Allah, these birds dropped their stones on Abaraha’s army, completely destroying them. The once mighty army turned into scattered remains, just like eaten straw, as described in Surah Al-Feel of the Holy Qur’an.

This miraculous incident proved to the world that Allah Himself protects His sacred house and no power on earth can ever harm it. The Kaaba stood untouched, shining as the house of Allah, while the arrogant army of Abaraha met its humiliating end. The event became a sign for all generations, showing that the power of Allah is far above the power of kings and armie
