Kolkata’s iconic Howrah Bridge turned 75 on Saturday. One of the busiest bridges of the country, it has played a significant role in history, art and literature of the city of joy. Originally named as the new Howrah Bridge, it connects the twin cities of Howrah and Kolkata. Known for its unique architecture, the bridge is built without any nuts or bolt but was formed by riveting the whole structure. The gigantic bridge thus hangs above the Hooghly River without any pillars. We hope the engineering marvel stands tall forever and mark as a landmark to the City of Joy for many more years to come.
