Hi, I'm James Knott and this is your Better Beer Authority. Please subscribe to our beer show. Click. Thanks. Today we are talking about Black Butte Porter from Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Oregon. This was sent to us by Richard Hartogs, who writes travel blogs for us on our website. Thanks Richard. You're a peach!

Deschutes was opened in 1988 and Black Butte Porter was their first beer and is still their flagship beer. Their beers are found on the western half of the United States and the West Coast of OH CANADA. They have seven year-round offerings.

One cool aspect to their website, is it has a special section that reveals the ingredients of their beers for homebrewers. This beer has Pale, Carapils, Chocolate and Crystal Malts and Wheat. They also use Cascade, Bravo and Tettnang Hops.

This beer is 5.2 percent ABV and 30 IBUs. The brewery says to look for a creamy mouthfeel, complex layers with a hop edge and chocolate finish.
