Epicurus (341–270 BCE) was an ancient Greek philosopher and the founder of Epicureanism, a philosophy advocating for the pursuit of pleasure and tranquillity through the cultivation of modest desires and the study of nature. Born on the island of Samos, Epicurus moved to Athens at the age of 18, where he later established his own school, known as "The Garden."
