In this wildlife vlog, I travel through the Western Ghats of India, spending days near shaded forest streams to film this rarely seen kingfisher in its natural habitat. The Blue-Eared Kingfisher is a dream species for many birders, bird photographers, and wildlife filmmakers, yet sightings are brief and unpredictable.

Often confused with the Common Kingfisher, the Blue-Eared Kingfisher (Alcedo meninting) is darker, more secretive, and strongly tied to undisturbed forest ecosystems. Its presence is a sign of healthy streams and an intact forest.
