Hi guys! It’s the spookiest time of the year, so lets take a look at the spookiest Angel. The Angel of Death.
When you say, Angel of Death, people tend to get a certain image pop into their heads. A black robe, skeletal smile, a sinister looking scythe and the promise that someone is going to die.
This… is false. Azreal is the Angel of Death, no doubt about it, but not in the way you might think.
Like when we went over Michael, links above and below, angels have no gender, though Azrael is often perceived as male. This isn’t always the case though, as another person could perceive them as female or even androgynous. They don’t care what you call them. They aren’t going to get upset if you misgender them. Personally, I see Azrael as male, so that’s how I’ll refer to him.

His name comes from Hebrew, El thereabouts meaning, of God, and Azra meaning pure, and more importantly, Helper. This is the core of what Azrael does.
Birth can be a traumatic experience, for both the child, and the person giving birth. The same can be said for Death. Some people are afraid to die. They don’t want to die yet. They may have people that they need to take care of, or, in the worst case, it may have been a sudden, physically and mentally traumatic death, and this is where Azrael comes in. He’s not big scary reaper. He doesn’t kill people. He’s a guide.
