Our Founder-Trustee, Dr Arvind Kumar, had the privilege of addressing the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐥'𝐬 (𝐍𝐆𝐓) 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, held in the presence of the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, and key stakeholders from the 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞. This landmark event brought together experts, policymakers, and legal professionals to discuss critical environmental challenges, sustainable development, and climate change solutions.
In his powerful address, Dr Kumar emphasized that air pollution is no longer just an environmental issue - it is a 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲, 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫. He highlighted the severe impact of air pollution on human health, urging immediate policy interventions and public action.
𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐃𝐫 𝐀𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐊𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐫’𝐬 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐡:
✅ Air pollution is a health emergency - it affects every individual, yet many, including health professionals, remain unaware of its full impact. Raising awareness and building capacity among them is essential.
✅ Sustained messaging is key - just like anti-tobacco warnings, air pollution must be actively highlighted in public spaces to drive behavior change.
✅ Solutions at two levels:
Policy-level changes driven by decision-makers and lawmakers.
Individual actions - small, consistent efforts by 140 crore people can create a massive collective impact.
✅ Reduce ‘धू’ and ‘धु’—धूल और धुआं (dust and smoke). A simple yet powerful message echoed by Hon’ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu. If each person takes responsibility for a 50-meter radius, the impact will be transformative.
𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐆𝐓 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞:
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) organized this two-day national conference, bringing together judicial officers, policymakers, environmentalists, and experts to deliberate on pressing environmental challenges. The event served as a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and policy discussions to ensure a sustainable and healthier future for India.
This conference laid the foundation for an upcoming international summit where global experts and organizations will come together to address environmental conservation and climate change mitigation.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝:
Dr Arvind Kumar’s speech was a clarion call for action - policy-driven reforms, community engagement, and a shift in the public mindset are crucial in the fight against air pollution. With collective responsibility and decisive leadership, we can build a healthier, cleaner future for all. 🌍💙
