Описание к видео TEDxUniversityofGothenburg - Joakim Larsson - Our Drugs in their Water

Where do the drugs we use come from, and what happens with the waste from their production? A daunting journey from Sweden to India and the pollution of active substances affecting the environment in so many ways.

Joakim Larsson is associate professor of physiology at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, and performs research on antibiotic resistance in the external environment -- the role of antibiotic pollution in the selection of resistance and subsequent gene transfer to the human microbiome.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
