The dial is a traditional sub seconds dial, made out of porcelain, as with many vintage pocket watches. Large Arabic numerals also don the dial, together with 24h military time as well.

The case is a squarish snap-on cushion case, nickel plated case as with watches from that era and has fixed wire lugs. The watch strap that is on the watch currently fits perfectly with the watch.

Trench watches first became prominent in the 1910s-20s during world war 1 as a solution to convenient time keeping, with the timepiece strapped to their wrist instead of having to pull out one's pocket watch to check the time. Similarly here, the trench watch in question has both the fundamental design of a pocket watch as well as a wrist watch.

Rolex was one of many companies that produced trench watches, which gained popularity during World War I. These watches were a practical evolution from pocket watches, with features like a metal grille, luminous dials, and unbreakable glass to withstand combat conditions.

The necessity of wrist-worn timepieces for coordinating attacks ultimately led to the wristwatch becoming the standard for men's watches after the war.
