We made a short video showing the structure of the coronavirus. Right now, scientists are working on describing the virus down to the atomic level, so that they can find ways to fight it.

There is still a lot that we don't know about the structure of the coronavirus, or that we don't know with certainty. That's why we made a real-time rendered, procedural model of the virus. Whenever new knowledge is discovered, we can immediately incorporate it into the animation. In that way, the current state of knowledge can be easily communicated.

The video is rendered in Nanographics Vj, our real-time molecular visualization and compositing software.
