ఆదిలాబాద్ జిల్లాలోని అటవీ, మారుమూల ప్రాంతాల్లో సీజనల్‌గా రెండు మూడు నెలల పాటు మాత్రమే లభించే అరుదైన బుడింపండు (సాధారణంగా బేల్ ఫ్రూట్ లేదా వుడ్ ఆపిల్‌గా పిలుస్తారు), పచ్చ నుండి పసుపు పచ్చ రంగులో పండి పగిలి సువాసనలు వెదజల్లుతూ ప్రధాన రహదారుల వెంబడి గిరిజన మహిళలు గంపల్లో తీసుకువచ్చి 50-100 రూపాయలకు విక్రయిస్తూ ఉపాధి పొందుతున్నారు, వ్యవసాయ కూలీలకు కడుపు నింపే ఆహారంగా, మధుమేహ రోగులకు తక్కువ కాలరీలతో పోషకాలు అందించే ఈ సహజ పండు పత్తి, కంది, జొన్న చేనల్లో వర్షాలకు సహజంగా కాస్తూ, దారి ప్రయాణికులను ఆకర్షిస్తూ ప్రాంతీయ ఆర్థిక, ఆహార వైవిధ్యానికి ఆధారంగా నిలుస్తోంది.
In the forested and remote areas of Adilabad district, the rare seasonal Budin fruit (commonly known as bael or wood apple), available for just two to three months, ripens from green to yellowish-green, splits open emitting alluring fragrances that draw roadside travelers, enabling tribal women to gather them from wood apple trees in cotton, sugarcane, and maize fields, carry in baskets to main highways, and sell for 50-100 rupees each to earn livelihood amid agricultural off-seasons, serving as a satiating snack for daily wage laborers, low-calorie nutritious option for diabetics with high water and fiber content aiding digestion, naturally grown without chemicals during rains, thus supporting local economy and food diversity.
