The Searchers as a Horror Film | Video Essay

Описание к видео The Searchers as a Horror Film | Video Essay

I took a classic film course in college and one of the films we discussed was John Ford's film, The Searchers. I'm not a huge Western fan (although I'll watch Tombstone anytime, Huckleberry), so I wasn't particularly interested initially. But after I watched it, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by its depth and John Wayne's performance. One of the things that kept popping into my head while watching was how frightening it actually is and so I wrote my final paper on how it could theoretically be categorized as a horror film just as much as a Western. What do you think?

Obviously, spoiler alert as I talk in depth about some key moments that give away quite a lot of the story. If you haven't seen this film, I highly recommend adding it to your movie night list, pilgrim.
