Every year, when Sun and Moon meet in sidereal Libra, the zodiacal heart chakra, we celebrate the festival of light: Diwali. When Sun’s light becomes obscured or debilitated in the outside, it is always the time to turn our awareness within and cultivate the inner light. This year Diwali time will be especially auspicious, as it will occur shortly after Jupiter will become exalted in the sky.

And yet, although this New Moon, sacred to Goddess Lakshmi, is always counted among the most auspicious ones in the Vedic year, this year it will also come with some complex energies. Sun and Moon will be accompanied in sidereal Libra by Mars and Mercury, who will be also in parivartan yoga with debilitated Venus. The starving state (kshudhita avastha) of New Moon dispositors, combined with Sun’s debilitation and Moon’s combustion, can bring into our lives many life lessons around the topics of expectations, attachment and dissatisfaction. With stellium in sidereal Libra we will be encouraged to look deep into our hearts, face our own blockages and reconnect with that what truly matters to us.
