The "Kick Door Challenge" may seem like a harmless laugh among teens, and viewers, but it is actually so dumb, dangerous, and even deadly for several reasons. Here's why.

First, consider the individual(s) who are on the other side of the door. Imagine an elderly citizen or a person who has health problems, or a veteran battling PTSD receiving the shock of their lives when their door is kicked open and their sense of security breached. The anxiety and panic that possibly could result in severe medical issues or medical emergencies such as a heart attack. In addition to the scare factor, there is the physical harm risk many foolish teens fail to consider. The kicking individual may hurt and injure themselves on a law abiding citizen's property, or worse case scenario, they kick in the wrong door, and be confronted by an armed person exercising their 2nd Amendment rights and attempt to protect and defend themselves.

Second...responsibility. In the case of teens, it is a matter of knowing that there are consequences of actions and every action has an equal or opposite reaction proportionate or disproportionate of the action. The fact that a prank is trending does not make the prank right OR LEGAL. Therefore, it is important that teens consider the impact of their actions on other people.

Third...parental responsibility and liability. Parents also play a huge role. Parents MUST discuss the risks of this behavior with their children and ensure they realize that there is a significant difference between fun that can help them and that which will harm someone severely and place them as their parents legally responsible.

The "Kick Door Challenge" is NOT a prank, but a DANGEROUS, DUMB and DEADLY game that may have serious consequences. Individual responsibility combined with parental guidance and accountability can prevent the development of more injuries, death and t-shirt sales and GoFundMe accounts as a result of this trend.
