This sitting week, on 15/06/22, I delivered my second reading speech for my bill to legalise cannabis in South Australia. The time has come to legalise cannabis for adult use in our state. It is clear that the prohibition model has failed wherever it has been waged, and cannabis is no exception. Millions of Australians use cannabis every year, and many of those are sick or disabled people simply trying to manage their pain. We here in South Australia have an opportunity that we in this parliament must seize and act upon, otherwise we may well be left behind. We must take a step now and show that we can lead on this issue.
