Petzl pulse 8mm is a small, lightweight removable bolt that cavers think is awesome for leading on aid to vertically access new passage way. Petzl is clear in their manual that this is not the intended use.

We tested the Petzl 8mm Coeur Pulse in concrete and got 17.20 kN in shear and 14.07 kN in tension. When we tested it in real rock (granite) the results were 19.19 kN in shear and 8.67 in tension. Bonus test: Some cavers tie 2 loops of 5mm Dyneema cord directly to the hanger to save the weight of a carabiner. We tested that and broke the aluminum hanger instead at 20.99 kN (5 kN higher than its rating). Then we tested it on a CTW Sandstorm stainless hanger and the cord broke at 23.74 kN.
