There have been violent clashes at an anti-immigration rally in Melbourne, with police using pepper spray to disperse rival protest groups.

Authorities say that overall 5,000 people attended the multiple marches in the city.

12 people were arrested.

Around the country, thousands attended rallies calling for an end to mass migration.
