I feel quite silly that this was an issue for me. My headphones were not working on my Alienware laptop sometimes. Sometimes the notification would pop up and sometimes it wouldn't. So, if you have tried everything with your Alienware and the headphones are not working sometimes it could be as easy as the notification being in the task manager within the notification center.
