If you are looking for a showy annual bloom in the sunny garden or the container, something you can just plant and forget about, try growing Gazanias. They are often planted as drought-tolerant groundcover. The genus was first formally described by German botanist Joseph Gaertner in the second volume of his major work De Fructibus et Seminibus Plantarum in 1791. Gaertner named the genus after Theodorus Gaza, a 15th-century translator of the works of Theophrastus. Gazania flowers thrive in full sun. Morning or afternoon shade may cause the flowers to stay closed for a portion of the day.

A large and conspicuous hoverfly of boggy habitats, especially in the north and west of Britain. But it seems to be very mobile, and in some years will turn up in woodland rides and meadows far from obvious breeding sites even in areas such as the Midlands where peatlands are few. Comparison is only really required with S. lappona, which averages smaller, has whitish abdominal markings, a reddish scutellum (but beware the occasional silentis with a reddish scutellum) and orange legs. Adults fly from May to November, peaking in July, a little later than lappona. They visit flowers such as brambles, thistles, knapweeds, Ramsons and Devil's-bit Scabious. Males have been observed hill-topping in large numbers (e.g. Whitbarrow, Cumbria swarming around Juniper bushes - see images). They can make a high-pitched buzz when resting. The rat-tailed larvae develop in peaty pools and ditches. See more: https://www.flickr.com/photos/6307520...

Lesa meira: http://rettarholl.is/plontur/manafifi...

Care of Gazania flowers is limited and often non-existent if you have neither the time nor the inclination to care for them. Botanically called Gazania rigens, treasure flowers is a more common name. See more: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/orna...

Gazania species are grown for the brilliant colour of their flowerheads which appear in the late spring and are often in bloom throughout the summer into autumn. They prefer a sunny position and are tolerant of dryness and poor soils. Numerous cultivars have been selected for variety of colour and habit. In temperate regions, they are usually grown as half-hardy annuals. A commonly grown variety is the trailing gazania (Gazania rigens var. leucolaena). It is commonly used as groundcover and can be planted en masse to cover large areas or embankments, assisted by its fast growth rate. Cultivars of this variety include 'Sunburst', 'Sunglow', and 'Sunrise Yellow'. Another popular cultivated variety is the clumping gazania (Gazania rigens), which has a number of named cultivars including 'Aztec', 'Burgundy', 'Copper King', 'Fiesta Red', 'Goldrush' and 'Moonglow'. Gazanias do best in sandy, well-draining soil but will tolerate many soil types and conditions. The leathery foliage of gazania plants is a clue to the high drought tolerance of this flower. Let the soil dry between waterings. The daisy-like flowers blooms of gazanias often come in a variety of hot hues on the color wheel, like red, orange, and yellow. Many flowers feature solids and horizontal or vertical variegation on petals, sometimes with splashes of white and bright pink. See more: https://www.thespruce.com/gazania-flo...
