[INSPIRATIONS] Some days, I like to pick up the guitar and noodle around in whatever direction or style I feel inspired in that moment. Noodling around for about 5-10 minutes, I came up with this, then recorded it. I then thought it might be a helpful little exercise for someone, so I recorded myself playing it slowly and up close.

[TECHNIQUES] At some point, I will try to show some of my pick-holding techniques.

[EQUIPMENT] I am playing my Fender '72 Telecaster Thinline, which is a semi-hollow-body guitar. I have the pickup switch set to the neck pickup position and am playing through a Spider V 120 Line 6 Amp, with the preset sound dialed to Brit J-900 Dist and the gain knob at about six o'clock.

I'm a self-taught, hobby guitarist, and this 5-minute jam is an arrangement of power chords and playing techniques I've been experimenting with for some time.

My Journey: Since around age 10, I went through many cycles of starting, quitting, and restarting. I used to buy and sell gear, often hitting a wall in my playing, thinking that because I wasn't progressing much, I was wasting my time.

The Revelation: A few years ago, I realized I didn't have to become a super-polished, accomplished musician to enjoy this hobby. I can mess around with the instrument, develop my own style, and play for the simple joy of it!
