Schloss Favorite Mainz Grotto

Описание к видео Schloss Favorite Mainz Grotto

Favorite Mainz Video N°. 2.
Schloss Favorite in Mainz, Germany, was a pleasure palace with elaborate terrace gardens, built for Lothar Franz von Schönborn, prince elector of Mainz, between 1700 and 1722. The palace and gardens were destroyed in 1793. Virtual reconstruction after drawings by Salomon Kleiner.
This video (2022) focusing on the Grotto pavilion shows a partly revised version of my original 3D model of the Favorite (2019).
The 'Grotto' was a loggia, ca. 23 m. wide. Inside, there were 9 niches is which 4 statues and 5 tiered fountains were placed. The roof of the building was a large terrace, a 'belvedere' offering spectacular views of the Rhine, the garden's main axis as well as the Favorites' second 'water axis' with the fountain of Pluto and Proserpina.
