Hi! I'm Larry Lobo, chief engineer and music producer at Noisy Gates Studios, where we record all kinds of live instruments and produce a wide range of genres in different styles. When we started, we had only 1 goal, and that was to deliver the best possible sound and there was no other way to narrow down our equipment choice other than researching for a million hours all over the internet!
My journey as an audio engineer has been extremely colourful till date and i am very grateful for that. Freshly graduating from the audio school, i was damn sure i wanted to mix records more than anything else. Critically listening to the tiniest details and nuances of audio was something i would do all day and after tonnes of research and reading about all kinds of reference monitors, i narrowed it down to the Adam A7X and the Dynaudio LYD7 for a couple of reasons. Most importantly, i was very familiar how both of them sounded as my audio school had them and i loved working there, also because they were at the time in my budget. I took some advice from my mentors and friends and decided to demo these two. So i called up Delhi Sound Store in Hauz Khas and they were kind enough to arrange these for a demo session. Tagged along with my audio engineer friends and played our most favourite tunes through both the speakers and we were blown away. All of us were shocked how the Adam A7X responded! The 3-dimensionality, the front and back depth and enormous amount of space, it was a no brainer! I got a pair of the Adams right away from Delhi Sound Store.
After acoustically treating this space, i was really curious how the Adams would sound in a 12 by 14 feet room and again, i was literally blown away, this time even more to be very honest! I could hear even the tiniest details, the compression, distortion, clipping of converters, the balance of all the instruments, a detailed frequency spectrum, reverb and delay tails. My idea of mixing totally changed. I started loving my job even more! I believe that an audio engineer's dream is to hear every move that they make and the Adam A7X has definitely hit the right spot! I am currently running my Adam A7X through the Focusrite Clarett 8PreX converters which i also got from Delhi Sound Store and since day 1, my clients have been really happy! For a studio owner, one of the most important aspect when investing in gear is reliability and the Adams have never failed in any manner in this department! Day in, day out, we work 24/7 on these bad boys. They truly are a workhorse! The progress that i have seen in my productions is unbelievable and i believe that in addition to consistency and focus at work, the room and speakers play a huge role! Our control room is a very musical one, not dead flat or dry, but with lots of diffusion and liveliness. To me, these Adams are a perfect set of monitors in such situations. With the extended high frequency response and precise stereo imaging, my work translates exactly how i had intended. Of course, it takes some minor tweaking after listening to the masters in different spaces but that is exactly where it stands out! The minor adjustments that you make with the Adams can be heard everywhere. I have been using the Adam A7X for the past 3 years and i can proudly say that you cannot go wrong with Adam Audio! When i plan to expand my horizons, i would definitely get a set of Adam S5H.
