LAND COLLECTIVE collaborated in the design of Eskenazi Health Hospital, continuing the effort begun by Founding Principal, David Rubin, while Equity Partner at Olin in the creation of a new campus for Indianapolis’ oldest public hospital, including the design of CommonGround – a large programmed plaza with two fountains designed in collaboration with Fluidity, and a trellis structure by Diller Scofidio Renfro. LAND COLLECTIVE acted as design lead, coordinating the site team selected by HOK Architects, to define the new campus – a comprehensive team comprised of local design and engineering firms, each with a part in the significant undertaking. Principal David Rubin participated on the Art Selection Committee, and had an active role in Eskenazi Hospital Foundation’s fund-raising efforts. Guidelines were established to describe the character of the new campus and its future growth, including integration into the City’s urban fabric and a greater vision for the campus and Commons defining a destination for all of Indianapolis’ population, whether seeking Eskenazi’s services or not. Of 5,800 hospitals in America, Eskenazi Health Hospital and Campus will be one of the 10 newly built hospitals certified LEED® Silver or higher.
