President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. attends a reception on the Philippines' candidature to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for 2027-2028 at the UN Headquarters in New York on March 10, 2026.

According to Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro, securing a seat on the UN Security Council will enable the Philippines to actively participate in global discussions on peace and security. With millions of Filipinos living and working abroad, especially in regions like the Middle East, having a voice on the Council helps the country advocate for and protect the welfare of its citizens while advancing national interests.
