On September 22nd, 1986 Gordon Shumway crashed into the home of Willie Tanner and was given the nickname ALF. He quickly made his way into the hearts of America and was unavoidable with spin-offs, TV Specials and tons of merchandising … but just 4 years later no one cared about ALF. For the last 20 years ALF has existed exclusively as a punchline but is that really fair?
