Less Energy undertook an ambitious project for a logistics warehouse in Rotterdam, aiming to develop an advanced lighting system that maximized energy efficiency while offering precise and adaptable control tailored to the space's specific needs.
With Hytronik as the technology partner, a Koolmesh-based solution was implemented, transforming the warehouse's operations and performance. This project stood out for its high level of customization and sustainable impact.
THE CHALLENGE
• Achieve up to 80% energy savings through an advanced control system with short hold times.
• Design an adaptive lighting system that automatically adjusts levels based on occupancy and available daylight.
• Minimize unnecessary activations (false triggers) caused by external movement or environmental factors.
• Implement a scalable solution capable of updates or expansion with minimal impact on existing infrastructure.

THE SOLUTION
1. Integration of PIR sensors into 588 UFO highbay fixtures
o Enabled automated control based on occupancy and natural light levels.
o Optimized energy consumption for each luminaire.
o With effective operation at heights of up to 12 meters, these sensors were ideal for the logistics environment.
2. Bluetooth-enabled LED drivers integrated into luminaires
o Delivered precise and efficient control of luminaires, ensuring consistent performance.
o Allowed adjustment of light intensity and color temperature via the Koolmesh app.
o Simplified system configuration and ensured operational reliability.
3. Bluetooth gateways for network management
o Facilitated device communication through a stable network.
o Prevented network traffic overload by dividing the warehouse into four independent networks.
4. Division of the warehouse into 28 control zones
o Each zone was programmed to meet specific lighting requirements based on its usage.
o This strategy allowed efficient and customized management for each section of the warehouse.
5. Centralized control via the Koolmesh App
o Simplified the initial setup, including batch programming of sensors.
o Enabled parameter customization, such as light levels, hold times, and adjustments based on client needs.
o Provided remote access for real-time adjustments and continuous system monitoring.
