My late husband and his dad had a bonding experience with the Planet of the Apes "Go Ape!" marathon -- they each mentioned it to me several times. When I got the notion to write an Apes song, I decided to make it a tribute to them (and all the other fathers and sons who loved the Apes saga!). Miss you both.
