Yellow Autumn was founded by Californian musician Gary Creighton, whose stylistic preferences were in the field of progressive music, blues, psychedelic and folk rock. The band played with small creative timeouts for several years, during which its name changed from "Yellow Autumn Orchestra" to "Yellow Autumn Minstrels", until finally settling on the more concise version. The musical biography of the ensemble is divided into three main historical stages. The first covers the period from the late sixties to the early seventies. Gary Creighton is behind the drum kit. The second convocation of the "Yellow Autumn" took place in 1972 and disbanded in 1973. This composition managed to sign a recording contract, but the disc never appeared on the shelves of record stores for unknown reasons. The third variation on the theme of "Golden Autumn" was created in 1977 and, in addition to the band leader, the group included: Gary Creighton's wife - singer, guitarist, tambourine Lorraine Dechter and flautist/cellist Erb Swanigan. Gary Creighton is a unique poet and musician. He collaborated fruitfully with his best friend and co-writer Joseph Pusey. Together they wrote a large number of excellent songs, imbued with warmth and selfless love for people, including the album "Children Of The Mist" and Pusey's solo album "In My Lady's Chamber", released in the same year. Gary Creighton died of congenital heart disease in 1982. Erb Swanigan (real name Herbert John Swanigan) was a talented Californian multi-instrumentalist who was fluent in a dozen different musical styles. Music teacher. He grew up in a musical family, his father was a jazz double bassist, and his cousin was a composer and producer of rhythm and blues records. He played with many performers and bands, helping them achieve an original sound. He composed music for television and independent films. She died on the eve of 2011. Lorraine Dechter is the lead singer of the band "Yellow Autumn" of the last convocation. She is currently a well-known radio host, producer, musicologist and director of news programs at Northstate Public Radio. Created with her husband Gary Creighton, the radio show "Good Old Fashioned Folk Music Show", dedicated to archaic blues, country and traditional folk music, remained on the air for more than 30 years and always enjoyed the respect it deserved among devoted fans of these genres. Children Of The Mist was recorded at Media Arts Studios in Hermosa Beach, in the greater Los Angeles area. The assistant engineer on this recording was Black Flag bassist Glen "Spot" Lockett. A stunning artifact of the short-lived era of the hippie-folk revival in the second half of the 70s. A spectacular combination of male and female vocals, with a background of acoustic guitars, cello, flute, "floral" percussion and other components of the sound texture of the sixties in perfectly calibrated proportion. "Children Of The Mist" is the only recorded entry in the Yellow Autumn archive to date. The disc is extremely rare: it was originally released by Vala Records in an edition of 500 copies and has not yet been released on digital media. In 2011, the Italian label "Mellotron Records" reissued the album on colored vinyl, with a reprint of the original sleeve design, with a romantic-hippie photo of the band on the front, taken in a picturesque ravine on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in California. The total number of discs is 100 units.
