*The Russian Civil War was a complex period in history that cannot be simply distilled into a single song or statement. It was a complex collage of interlocking and overlapping wars born from the forges of discontent and the fear of chaos and destruction. Thus this video does not depict "every" faction, nor can it do justice to the full breadth and depth of their individual motivations, but it presents the major "factions" (Red, White, Black, and Green) in the flattened and idealized light of contradictory propaganda.
It does not represent what it meant to be a Partisan historically but attempts to portray the self-perception of the Partisan and the instrumental convergence typical of propaganda. If the song takes a side, it's the side of the average people who believed in what they were fighting for and paid for that dream with their own blood.

LYRICAL SOURCES
The English lyrics are an original poem, "Chant des Partisans de l'Amour," written for this video. This poem is a contrafactum and medley, adapting and translating themes and stanzas from numerous historical partisan songs from the era.
The sources for each faction's lyrics are as follows:
[RED] Based on the Red Army song "Марш дальневосточных партизан" (March of the Far-Eastern Partisans), with text by Pyotr Parfenov and Sergey Alymov. This includes direct references to Primorye, Spassk, and Volochayevka.
[WHITE] Based on the White Army song "Марш Дроздовского полка" (March of the Drozdovsky Regiment), with text by Col. P. Batorin. It also incorporates lines from the later WWII-era ROA variant.
[BLACK] Based on the anarchist song "The Makhnovshchina" (primarily the well-known French version), which details the Black Army's fight against both the Reich and Denikin's White Army in Ukraine.
[GREEN] Uses two primary sources:
The narrative verses (the "little maid" and the Cossack) are a direct translation of the Ukrainian folk song "Розпрягайте, хлопці, коні" (Unharness the Horses, Lads) with a thematic variation of the second and final stanzas.
The "partisan" verses ("Through the forests, over peaks," "Make the cursed foe to know") are adapted from the Yugoslav Partisan song "Po šumama i gorama" (Through Forests and Over Hills).
[TUTTI] The final "Tutti" chorus, sung by all factions, is an adaptation of the alternative Yugoslav "Partisan's Vow" as recorded by Basil Davidson in his 1946 book Partisan Picture ("Partizan sam tim se dičim..." / "Proudest Partisan I am...").
