Merciless Mode or Challenge Mode in the Japanese version is the hardest difficulty available in Persona 5. While Hard Mode could be equated to normal difficulty in the previous Persona games, Merciless Mode offers the player a real challenge by increasing damage by criticals and drastically lowering the amount of exp and gold gained from battles.

Persona 5 is a role-playing video game developed by Atlus for Playstation 3 and Playstation 4. Persona 5 is chronologically the sixth installment in the Persona series, which is part of the larger Megami Tensei franchise. Published by Atlus in Japan and North America and Deep Silver in PAL territories, the game was released in Japan in September 2016, and was released in North America and Europe in April 2017. Unlike earlier games in the series, Persona 5 does not include the Shin Megami Tensei moniker.

In Persona 5, you take the role of the silent protagonist, a high school student who lives out a single year while attending high school in Tokyo: Tokyo is governed by a day-night cycle and weather systems that govern general behaviour similar to a social simulation. The year is punctuated by both scripted and random events - the protagonist attends school, can go to part-time jobs within Tokyo, and pursue leisure activities or create items for use in other areas of the game.

After having to transfer to a high school in Tokyo, the protagonist has a strange dream. With the goal of "rehabilitation" looming overhead, you must save others from their distorted desires through your work as a phantom thief. After spending a memorable year bonding with the people around you, what awaits...?

Live as the protagonist!

During the day in Persona 5, enjoy your life as a student, spending your time however you please. Your power may be limited on your own, but by forming bonds with the people around you, you might be able to change the world.

Take control of the protagonist after he transfers to Shujin Academy in Tokyo at the start of spring. Experience daily life as he meets various people and forms special relationships with those around him.
As a regular high school student, you'll attend classes, spend time with friends, and enjoy a variety of exciting school events. Experience a year full of laughter and suspense in Tokyo!
Some of the people the protagonist will meet have special skills or powers that are beneficial. Form Confidant relationships and gain their trust to strengthen your bonds!

After school, don the mask of a phantom thief and fight to reform corrupt adults! Use the mysterious mobile app "Metaverse Navigator" to enter the world within people's hearts. Then, with the power of Persona, steal the source of their distorted desires! By doing so, you can make anyone from an abusive teacher to a fraudulent artist have a change of heart!?
