Patrice O'Neal & Louis C.K. - Gal-Bashing Comics

Andrea Peyser wrote an article in the New York Post titled, "No Laughing Matter: Gal-Bashing Comics At Women's Benefit," trashing Patrice and Louis for their performance at a women's benefit called, "Comedy Cares For The Homeless," where they performed for free to raise money for homeless women.

Unfortunately, one feminist (Merle Hoffman) was so upset by their material that she decided to remove her support for the charity, essentially punishing homeless women because she can't take a joke, stating, "That's what really infuriates me - misogyny is the last permissible thing."

Also in attendance was an "unamused" Sonia Ossorio, president of the city's National Organization for Women (NOW). You may remember her from Patrice's legendary appearance on FOX News, where he defended Opie & Anthony, speaking as the expert on "funny" as he went back and forth with Sonia who makes a fool of herself trying to debate with Patrice. During their FOX News appearance, they reference this article as well as Patrice's performance at the benefit, as Sonia uses the "angry pirate" joke as an example of an offensive joke that is not funny on national TV in front of a studio full of FOX News employees who laughed at her and the joke. Even Sonia couldn't keep a straight face as she butchered the joke.

Of course, these were the classic Patrice jokes Amy Schumer stole and incorporated into her act after Patrice died, claiming she never knew Patrice used them. At the time, Opie defended Schumer, explaining that even Patrice would tell you that they weren't anyone's jokes. Oddly enough, when Patrice tries to explain that in this clip, Louis says, "It's yours now, buddy."
