Swamp Thing Winter Special - Swamp Thing versus the Snow Monster

Swamp Thing emerges from the snowy veil, cradling a child in his arms. The two are being pursued by the Snow Monster who created this never-ending blizzard. Unfortunately, Swamp Thing’s connection to the Green has been severed, weakening his body and mind. He knows that he must defeat the Snow Monster to return the Green, but he can’t seem to remember their encounters. Swamp Thing does everything he can for the child. He tries to keep the boy warm with campfires, grows food for him to eat, and even fights off wild and hungry beasts.

Swamp Thing collapses into the snow, the boy begs him to get up. Swamp Thing can’t recall how long they’ve been going, but he knows how long it takes for his body to decay to this degree. They’ve been running for years. Swamp Thing finally makes the heartbreaking realization that the Snow Monster has been this child all along. Tears fill his eyes as he embraces the boy one last time, taking the Monster’s life and reuniting with the Green.
