In this webinar, ITonlinelearning’s Web & Software Development Tutor and Study Coach, Ian discusses the basics of HTML and CSS. We dive into several different topics regarding HTML and CSS including markup language basics, basic structure of an HTML document, HTML elements, CSS properties, CSS class selectors, and id selectors.

Markup languages are made up of symbols that are inserted in a text document, and they are responsible for controlling the structure, formatting, and relationship between parts of the document. One such markup language is HTML or Hypertext Markup Language, created to define the structure of web pages.

After going through the basics of HTML, Ian runs through what a basic HTML document looks like and expands on the elements you might find in an HTML document. In this webinar, Ian also explains what CSS properties do their HTML counterparts and how to implement these.
HTML elements are components of HTML documents, similar to building blocks. CSS properties, however, are characteristics of an element that details how browsers should display an element. CSS class selectors are used to apply styles to elements that have specific class attributes and id selectors style elements with a specified id.
