Welcome to the first online episode of Radio Turku!

Today we welcome Owain Hopeaketo, an International experts working as a project manager at the union Tekniikan akateemiset TEK.

During the past year, the new Finnish government has discussed and voted a lot of new laws that disrupt the experience of immigrants in Finland. The requierments for the Finnish citizenship are becoming more demanding, the right to stay on Finnish territory more restricted, and the general feeling of safety for immigrants is greatly decreasing.
Finland strongly needs immigrants to compensate for the country's low birth-rate and lack of high-skilled and low-skilled workers. How can the country rebuild trust with international newcomers and how can immigrants get more involve in the political decision process?

In this episode, we'll discuss the new government's measures, their consequences for immigrants and for the whole country, but also the solutions available to moderate their impact.
