Instagram Blend is a fun feature that lets you and your friends share a personalized feed of Reels right inside your chat, blending both of your interests into one continuous stream. But there are times when you might want to stop sharing that feed, switch back to regular messaging, or simply clear out old blends that are no longer relevant. In this video I walk you through the simple steps to remove an active Instagram Blend in just a few taps, without having to update your app settings or dig through confusing menus. Whether you’re cleaning up old conversations, troubleshooting feed issues, or just want to end the shared Reel session after you’ve had your fun, this tutorial makes it easy to leave the Blend and return to normal chat.

First, make sure you have the latest version of the Instagram app installed; Blend is a built-in feature and won’t appear properly if Instagram is out of date. You can download or update Instagram at   / download  . Once you’re on the current release, open Instagram and tap the message icon in the top right corner of your home feed. Find the chat where you have an active Blend—there will be a small icon next to the person’s name indicating the Blend session. Tap that icon to open the Blend Reel circulation view. Here you see the reels you and your friend have been watching together as well as the option to modify or leave the Blend.

To remove the Blend, tap the gear icon in the top right corner of the Blend screen to access the Blend settings. From here, select Leave this Blend and confirm your choice. Instagram immediately ends the shared session and removes the blended Reel feed from the chat. Neither you nor your friend will see the Blend icon any longer, and your chat returns to its normal state. You can always start a new Blend session whenever you want, or simply enjoy one-on-one messaging without shared Reels.

Removing an Instagram Blend takes less than ten seconds and requires no special permissions or external tools.
